The
Pyrenees National Park Educational handbook is a very useful tool
for teachers who want their pupils to discover the National Park and make
use of the visit to meet certain school programme requirements.
Ever since its creation the Pyrenees National Park has made a point of
welcoming schools and has organized activities for them.
This Educational handbook was created first and foremost for teachers
and pupils from 10 to14 as most of the classes interested in visiting
the park are in that age group.
The aim of the Educational handbook is to help this particular public
to discover the Pyrenees National Park, to understand its
organization and its different missions, to help teachers prepare
outings and facilitate meetings with park wardens on the terrain.
The educational handbook has a summary and a series of theme sheets each
treating a different subject : landscapes, the environment, the surveillance
and protection of the different species, the life of mountain dwellers,
the code of good conduct, all subjects in which young visitors, destined
to become tomorrow's preservationists, show a real interest.
It
will also allow teachers to organize trips in the Pyrenees National Park
by themselves.
Here
are a few examples of the theme sheets contained in the handbook :
-Sheets
showing partnerships with the Pyrenees National Park
- Work and information sheets for each subject
*What
to do ?
*Safety in the mountains
*National Parks throughout the world
*Animals in the Pyrenees National Park
