Troumouse cirque (Luz-Gavarnie)

The Pyrenees National Park is a destination much sought after by experienced hikers. Lovers of high mountains in search of challenges will appreciate the "high Pyrenees" summits : Balaïtous, Vignemale, Néouvielle, Pic Long... the famous 3000 m summits which are the climbers' trophees. Those with stamina will prefer to set off for several days sleeping in refuges or under the stars as did the Pyreneeists of the19th century.

Several long distance footpaths cross the Pyrenees National Park : The High Pyrenean Route (Haute Randonnée Pyrénéenne), an 800 km hike in 43 stages, straddling the Franco-Spanish border. The GR 10, 870 km on the French side from Hendaye to Banyuls.
You can make up your own route for 3.5 or 8 days.

If you are not experienced and do not know the Pyrenees well enough, you should use the services of a professional.
Guides and Mountain Leaders know how to make your hike a success.
